Trillium is non-porous so it is easily cleaned with a damp cloth or a white Scotch-Brite pad using a mild cleanser such as Soft Scrub, Hope's Solid Surface Cleaner and Polish, Murphy Oil Soap (spray type) or Pledge.
In the case of a minor scratch, or stains caused by coffee, tea and grape juice, the surface can be renewed with a white Scotch bright pad and an abrasive cleanser such as Bon Ami or Comet. Trillium’s matte finish enables you to repair minor scratches and scrapes by buffing lightly with an abrasive cleanser using a white Scotch-Brite without appreciable change in surface appearance. When using Comet or any other abrasive cleanser, clean with broad, even strokes to maintain an even finish on your Trillium top.
In the case of deeper marks or burns, please contact Trillium for advice. We recommend contacting Trillium before using sandpaper on a Trillium top.
We recommend using Comet, or another abrasive cleanser, at least once a month. Remember to clean your entire top with broad strokes to ensure an even finish. Over time, consistent and even cleaning will cause your Trillium top to look better and better. Each time you clean your top with an abrasive cleanser, you are fine sanding it. After several months, your top will look even better than the day it was professionally installed by Trillium.
If you desire a shinier finish, follow with Pledge or another solid surface countertop polish. This will provide a protective dressing that will bring out the color of your Trillium top and repel liquids.
PRECAUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Cutting - Although minor scratches and damage can be repaired, your Trillium counter top is not meant to be used as a cutting surface.
Heat Resistance -
Trillium withstands heat better than most other ordinary surface materials;
however, hot pans and heat-generating appliances (such as griddles or
crock-pots) can cause damage. The general rule is that if you can put your hand
to it, you can set it on your Trillium top. Otherwise, use a trivet or other
insulation pad to protect your Trillium top.
Severe Damage - In case of severe damage, contact Trillium directly. Trillium has the experience and expertise to repair almost any damage likely to occur.
Dark Colors - Although Trillium material is easily repaired, wear will be more apparent on dark colors. This should be considered when choosing a color for heavy use areas like kitchen counter tops.
Wear - Over time, your Trillium top will show wear but because our product has a consistent color all the way through, your Trillium top can be refinished in your home to return it to its original appearance. Contact Trillium for details.
High-gloss Finishes - High-gloss finishes (not recommended in kitchens) sometimes applied to Trillium vanity tops can be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge and ordinary liquid dish soaps. Do not use abrasive cleansers on high-gloss Trillium finishes.
